Want of a Web Site | <<< index of About… |
My interest in developing web sites came about in 1999 with a home Internet connection. I imagined creating an endlessly complex scrapbook on public display; the prospect excited some childish side of me.
Authoring a web page has become a cultural expectation of individuals in the computing industry. It is already a conventional means of communication, inspiration, and distribution. Just as a journalist might be expected to author an editorial in a major newspaper; or a scientist, a column in a professional journal; so now the more proficient of software developers, engineers and technical writers are expected to have some form of personal, academic or occupational web page.
While this is a personal web site, it is held to some degree of formality and discrete intention. The objectives of this site are outlined below. Take a look at Web Site Inhibitions to read what you will not find at this site, and why. My discussion may provide some food-for-thought.
To promote occupational/academic interests:
To share personal passions:
To develop hobbyist inclinations of mine:
To provide a mini-portfolio for potential employers, contractors, publishers, etc.
